Academy Award Winner ("A River Runs Through It") Philippe Rousselout

Philippe Rousselot, ASC, AFC was born and raised in France . When he was 11 years old, his parents sent him to a two week summer camp, where they showed films every night and talked about them afterward.  That was the spark which ignited his passion for film.

Rousselot studied filmmaking at the Vaugirard national film school in France , where he focused on cinematography. He rode the crest of the  French New Wave in France during the dawn of  his career as an assistant cameraman collaborating  with Nestor Almendros, ASC on the production of  "My Night at Maud’s", "Claire’s Knee" and "Chloe in the Afternoon".

Rousselot earned his first cinematography credit at the age of  25.  He won the first of  his three Cesar Awards ( France ’s equivalent of an Oscar) for "Diva" in 1982.  Rousselot has earned Oscar nominations for "Hope and Glory" in 1987 and "Henry and June" in 1990, and an Academy award for "A River Runs Through It" in 1992. His eclectic body of  work includes such other memorable films as "The Emerald Forest", "Interview With the Vampire", "Planet of the Apes",  "Antwone Fisher", "Big Fish",  "The People vs Larry Flynt", "The Great Debaters", "Remember the Titans", "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and the upcoming releases of "Peacock" and "Sherlock Holmes".
